Dr Lanre Ogunyemi is a distinguished Consultant in Occupational Medicine with a track record of leadership, academic excellence, and impactful service across the UK and Ireland.
He is the Immediate Past President of the UK Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM). He is the Founding Chair of the Society of Occupational Medicine UK’s Leadership Academy, an initiative helped to establish in collaboration with colleagues to support the development of future leaders in occupational health.
Dr Ogunyemi is Academic Registrar (Chief Examiner) at the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, and formerly served as Chief Examiner at the UK Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM). His leadership in medical education and assessment continues to influence professional standards and training pathways in occupational health.
He was appointed by the UK government to the Occupational Health Expert Task and Finish Group, chaired by Professor Dame Carol Black, which aimed to strengthen occupational health provision for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs); the group’s work was paused following a change of government.
He also sits on the Board of Directors of the UK Council for Work & Health, a cross-sector body that brings together professional organisations to provide a unified voice on health, wellbeing, and work-related policy.
As Medical Director of Trinity Occupational & Public Health Solutions Ltd (TOPHS), a leading occupational health provider in the East Midlands, he oversees services across diverse industries. Under his leadership, TOPHS delivers Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM)-approved training courses for the Diploma in Occupational Medicine and the Diploma in Occupational Health Practice, with Dr Ogunyemi serving as course leader.
Widely respected as a champion of education, innovation, and collaborative leadership, he remains passionate about promoting high standards in occupational medicine, mentoring future practitioners, and advancing the specialty through strategic, evidence-informed practice.
